Description
Wade’s Mill Bloody Butcher Cornmeal is stone-ground from a heritage, open-pollinated, non-GMO crimson red dent corn that was introduced to the settlers in Virginia by the Native Americans in the 1840s. The ground corn is white with dark red flecks throughout, like blood splatters on a white butcher’s apron, thus the name “Bloody Butcher”.
Bloody Butcher is known for its rich and nutty flavor. Bloody Butcher cornmeal makes a delicious, hearty cornbread and also adds a wonderful flavor and texture to baked goods.
We are hooked on Bloody Butcher cornbread mini-bundts, either on their own or sliced and filled with country ham and a little spicy mustard. We also love the taste of Bloody Butcher cornmeal in a traditional tamale pie.
Our Bloody Butcher corn is grown exclusively for us by a small family farm in Halifax, southern Virginia.
Wade’s Mill Bloody Butcher Cornmeal is 100% natural with no additives or preservatives, stone-ground from non-GMO corn.
